Roofing warranties are a big deal when it comes to shopping for a metal roof. However, it should never be the main reason why you choose to go with a certain manufacturer or installer. Why?
It’s the same way that you might purchase a car with the highest safety rating, the best air bags and crumple zones etc., but you really hope that you’ll never need to use those things.
Don’t let an impressive sounding warranty keep you from doing your own due diligence. Research the company, get the specifics on their warranty and make sure the terms are spelled out in black and white on paper.

Some roofing warranties out there put requirements on the homeowner to maintain their metal roof in certain ways or the warranty is void in the event of a claim.
HAS THERE EVER BEEN A WARRANTY CLAIM MADE OR A DEFECT IDENTIFIED WITH YOUR PRODUCT?
I love this question and I will tell you why. I believe that it’s so important to come straight out and ask the question, “has there ever been a warranty claim on the product?” One reason for that is to be able to evaluate integrity – how does the salesperson visibly react to that question?And number two, is to clearly see whether or not a warranty is all that it’s claiming to be. The consumers out there today are educated and bright enough to understand that there is absolutely nothing in this world that’s perfect, and the more volume of anything that you manufacture and install, the more likely something could go wrong somewhere. We all know that whether you buy a Lotus or a Mercedes Benz a fantastic warranty on it, doesn’t mean you are not going to ever need to use it. Purchase a product manufactured with a material least likely to require use of the warranty. Then look at the company supplying the roofing warranty – the paper is only as good as the company printing it.
